Inspired by the traditional stokvel savings culture, Isikoqokoqo allows users to create personal savings plans, lock their money for a fixed period of 3, 6, or 12 months, and withdraw their savings once the plan has matured.
Unlike traditional savings accounts, Isikoqokoqo supports deposits via cash vouchers, EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer), and FETS, making it accessible to South Africans who may not have a credit card or formal banking relationship. The app works on any smartphone browser — no download required.
Isikoqokoqo features an AI-powered Financial Advisor that provides personalized budgeting tips, debt management strategies, and savings recommendations based on your income and financial goals. Users can also connect with the financial advisor via WhatsApp for real-time advice.
The platform offers a referral rewards program where users earn R100 for every friend they invite who creates a savings plan. It also sends automatic notifications when savings plans are nearing maturity or when deposits are received.
Isikoqokoqo serves users across South Africa including Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Pretoria, Soweto, Port Elizabeth, and all provinces. The app is available in English and designed for South African Rand (ZAR) transactions.
